Dear rector, academic staff and students of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University! Distinguished professors and participants from all around Uzbekistan, ladies and gentlemen! It is my great honour to address you today in this conference, organized for the purpose to implement modern technologies into the curriculum of universities. New technologies have changed the way how we teach and how we learn in number of ways, from graphic calculations to aligned design plans, designing virtual field trips to educational technologies that can help students access the content in new and, sometimes, very exciting ways. In fact, one would be very hard depressed to find a single university that does not have an access to the Internet. Nowadays, all universities in Uzbekistan have direct access to the Internet. Despite this access to computer technologies, there is a gap between the technology itself and its usage in classrooms. While students frequently do use computers in the classroom, the usage is limited to information gathering or word processing rather than using multimedia tools for digital content, to design and create online classes. Often learning through technology is teacher-centered rather than student-centered. I think these amazing initiatives proposed by the Uzbekistan State World Languages University in cooperation with the foreign languages teaching web portal are very amazing. I think throughout the conference delegates will come with their experience, they will have a brainstorm. I do believe that Uzbekistan State World Languages University will be a pioneer in implementing this idea throughout the country. I wish you all the success and all the best to you. Thank you.
